Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower has announced a move to open a regional centre to assist ASEAN member-states to stay head for the future of work. The centre will be advised by ASEAN Secretary-General Dato Lim Jock Hoi and relevant international experts.
This move coincide nicely as the world, including ASEAN, transit to a post-COVID life where digitalization is expected to accelerate.
It was also estimated by the International Labour Organization (ILO) that 35 million full-time jobs were lost in the region as of June 2020 due to the pandemic.
The centre aims to provide technology-assistance to generate inclusive growth, awareness in workplace safety & health, and tripartite relations.
